I've just been reading some old posts about fox attacks and its made me think about the base of our run.  We were thinking of standing our new hen house and enclosed run on concrete slabs with a plinth all around of 6inches.  Would we need to still have wire mesh on the grass too or would the fact that we have the plinth be enough? any views appreciated.

Hi i have my coop and run set up on slabs and a patch of ground to let them dig and dustbathe in. I have not had any problems over the last 12 months i have had my girls and it is easyer to keep clean and tidy aswell. andy

We have a walk in run that is on all paving so I think Mr Fox would have to be Houdini to get in.

Mine have their house on slabs & an area to run about in if the weather is really bad. I am able to lock them in on these at night.
In the morning i let them out onto grass or dirt should i say
