Overheard at a Farmers' Market
« on: May 19, 2012, 08:18 »
Two ladies looking at new laid eggs.  One lady said:

"I would not buy those, they are dirty, they have come from a chicken's bottom."

Funny isn't it, how people think that store bought eggs are made another way!  ::)
The glass is neither half empty or half full - it is simply the incorrect size! Find a new glass!

You should have asked them where they thought other eggs come from?  Perhaps they think they are made artificially???

Years ago a lady bought some eggs from me, then said oh that one's got a feather attached to it!

If they saw the little velociraptors rampaging round free-range cramming slugs, bugs and heaven knows what down their beaks, they would never eat eggs at all

Oh that's funny!

Mind you, hens kept inside wouldn't eat worms, but they might eat the occasional mouse or bit of rat!!   ;) ;)

In china they were making artificial eggs... with the bird flue they were so expensive, if you could get them

Have you ever tried to catch one with a mouse hanging out of its beak?

That's strange, I too am fussy about what I eat, that's why I DON'T eat supermarket eggs!

The other week a man knocked at the door.  I had eggs outside, but he knocked anyway.  Have you got any eggs he asked?  Yes, I replied they are here, taking them out of the box they were in.

I was going to buy some eggs at the bootfair, but a lady who lives down the road saw me and said oh don't buy those ones, get them from Ann in Mill Road!

So another regular!!!!!!   :) :)

I have evidently had the other effect - The son of one of my friends would never eat eggs until he started helping his dad to look after my girls when I go away.  Since I told him how disgusting the chickens were, in particular their eating habits, labeled a bucket with the word "Pooh" written in big letters and told him that eggs come out of a chicken's bum he now can't get enough of them.  The grosser the better as far as most little boys are concerned!!!

No. I obviously have not been keeping chickens long enough yet.

And never mind people seeing them eating slugs and bugs, what about walking through their own poo :D :D

Obviously it is what give the eggs their special flavour
