ooh that reminds me     I need to sow my dill. Want to grow loads this year

You can never have enough dill, and if you keep it in a brown paper bag in the fridge it keeps for months, seems to dry better for me that way too.

We grew 4 plants last year - it is a cheap feed crop for the chicks, ducks, geese and goats who all love them - we even had some for ourselves and the OH made lots of soup including a pretty mean courgette and runner bean soup, we had a glut of both so froze them down and later made about 9 litres of soup, very good it was as well

I love courgettes and you can make a delish pasta sauce out of them. It's a good way of using up a lot of courgettes in one go. My old man loved it and he doesn't like courgettes. Well he thinks he doesn't  8)

I like courgettes in omlettes, veg curries, chilli, chunky ratatouille.  I grate them and make pakora with them too. Every which way to make sure they get used.  I grow all different colours and varieties as it's true - you eat with your eyes  :D

OK..so where am I going wrong - I have grown courgettes for a couple of years and just as they begin to grow the ends the flowers fall off go squishy and mouldy when the courgettes are still very small and then I seem to get a fairly sparse crop off them altogether. Any ideas?

I think the fruit that fails is due to them being poorly (or not at all) pollenated. I've also read that extreme hot or cold weather can render pollen ineffective.

Some info in this link.

Main thing with corgettes is to keep picking them, and look under the leaves for any hiding there. If they grow too big they'll stop producing and you'll have 1 or 2 marrows instead of dozens of corgettes.

you usually get some rot off but that's par for the course I think but on the whole they should be prolific. They are greedy feeders so need a good amount of manure under them

The pakora I make is good for using up lotty veggies. I also make courgette fritters which go down well served up red hot with a dollop of mayo on the side  :D

I'll dig the recipe out  :D

My daughter works in a local restaurant. She told me tonight that they can take any amount off my hands.

Guess 6 plants won't be enough!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
