Title: Watering plug plants in John Innes No. 2
Post by: Goosegirl on March 26, 2024, 09:03
This is the first year I've used John Innes for potting on my plug plants in modular trays, 15 per tray. I used to go by weight to see if they needed water but as the JI is soil-based, I'm not sure what to do. I also overwatered one set of plants in their little cell tray but didn't realise it until I came to pot them on, so I didn't water them in as the JI was quite damp and am just hoping that the root ball will get the water out into the compost by leaching it. Any thoughts?

Just had a look at them this morning and the soil still seems dampish so am not going to water them at the moment. The plants also seem to be leafing up and doing fine, so am going to leave well alone.

Sorry I missed this GG, but it sounds as if things are working out ok...
