I made malt loaves yesterday. My goodness they're fantastic  :tongue2:  Nothing like the Soreen though. The colour is much lighter and it's not sticky, except for the glaze on top

I made mine with a good quality stout but even with that it's still come out pale coloured. Maybe the shop bought ones have some colouring in ???

I tried a piece last night and it's really light. I suspect it will be gone pdq  :D

malt loaf is allways better after a couple of days if you can hold back that long lol
