Does the risk of red mites etc reduce as the weather gets colder?

I started off with the intention of spraying with Poulty Sheild every week (paranoide about red mites after reading these pages).  And very happy to do exactly that in terms of time and effort, but we live in a very damp part of the country (Lancashire), and there are days when a sprayed wooden coup just will not dry out.

Particularly bad at the moment because the adjacent reservoir is being lowered so we have torrent going through the weir (bottom of garden - where the girls are) so air is full of moisture.

Can't see how I can spray and get the coup dry for the foreseeable with that going on, and hoping red mites might go south for the winter?

Noooooooooo we dont want them sending down here  .
In answer to the red mite situation no there are not so many in winter as far as I am aware  . I don't poultry shield my shed every week  in fact only a couple of times a year
