Bedding plants sell well.

crikey!   that sounds fantastic!

I'd agree with Richy; along with what you want to grow for yourself think about starting off bedding plants and stuff to sell;  it might pay for itself if you have a small business going.

Whereabouts are you?  (cos I'm jealous and I wanna take a look at this huge gh!!

You want to see some of the greenhouses by the roadside along the A17 and A16 between Spalding and Boston.  6000 sqm is about the size of a football pitch and pretty big, but some of the commercial ones practically go off over the horizon..........

BTW. did you know Walkers Crisps grew hundreds of acres of potatoes around Brothertoft to make the crisps

we have a record breaking monster greenhouse near us covering 38 acres !

see link

www.terranitrogen.co.uk/terrachemicals/news/index.jhtml?article_id=100001

they can grow 300,000 tomato vines at a time !

But on a more manageble scale have you thought about having  a Veg patch under glass. Rather than opting for the usual toms, chillis etc has anyone tried a traditional veg patch under glass but where you can ensure the soill is warm and doesnt get water logged ?

A nice big greenhouse to spend a few hours, days , weeks, months....or all year sounds like something I could handle !

cheers
