Title: Blueberry question
Post by: Eightball on May 30, 2015, 22:09
I've recently bought 5 blueberry plants. I potted them into 30 Litre pots using Ericaceous compost and a bit of well rotted home made compost to add some soil life into the pots. I've not really done much container growing so was wondering does the compost need to be replaced every so often with fresh stuff?

What varieties are they? High bush or low bush? Will they be sitting on the ground or on a patio? You'll likely need to refresh the compost or top dress with manure etc at least every year. You'll have to take into consideration how big the plants will get though because as the roots grow there will be less room in the pot for soil.

They are all highbush. When they get bigger in a few years I will probably pot them on into something about double that size. They are sitting  on the ground.

You might also want to consider giving them a liquid feed on a regular basis as well.
