all of our 3 little ducks appear to have a fascination with a conifer in the garden (about7, 8 feet tall) , fine, whatever floats yer boat etc etc. they like to get under it and grub around, frequently popping out going round the other side, and grubbing around again.

just had a phone call off the OH before to tell me one of the girls, the confident one surprise surprise, was 'missing', when she  then called them,  a  head popped out of the conifer, about a third of the way up it . . . . .  

it then came flying out of the tree with bits of conifer attached all over it lol

so my question is  . . . . . .  what on earth is it doing up there lol  :?:

would it be mooching around for grubs and flies ? surely not a 'nesting' thing is it

or something completely different?
