I planted shallots and some of my onion sets at the weekend.

Am planning in next few days to get seeds of tomatoes, peppers, aubergines, melons and brussels sprouts sown into Rootrainers indoors.  Sprouts will go into unheated greenhouse as soon as they show signs of germinating, the other stuff will stay inside on my windowsills in the warm.

Also next weekend I'm going to sow parsnips and broad beans directly on the plot.  A look back at my records tells me I do best with parsnips when I sow them end of feb/early March.  May also try sowing some carrots if I get time, under a cloche of clear polythene.
Gardening organically on chalky, stony soil.
