Sadly yes - the seeds would do me in  :( Sad part is that I really love raspberries and can have only a few fresh berries. My mother keeps giving us raspberry jam which the family gets to enjoy. I get my own back by making raspberry-red currant jelly just for myself, mwahahaha  :D

So what is wrong with RedCurrent Jam.  (Spelt with an E or an A)?

It is spelled with an "a". I've amended the title, otherwise this thread will not show up in a search for "redcurrant".
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Red currant jelly tastes lovely on toast and bread so you don't have to just eat it with meats. Crab apple jelly is also fab on toast as it has a real tang. Also red currant pips seem extremely hard even when cooked. Good luck whichever you go for.

Tilly thank you.  Nobody would tell me why Blackcurrant Jam but not Redcurrant jam.  Always its Redcurrent Jelly.  So what you are saying is that the pips from Redcurrants are best removed and a jelly is the way to do that.
Youve got me thinking Redcurrant jelly, Thanks.

Blackcurrant jam is okay if you don't mind or notice the largish pips, but I'm not fond of them so I make the jelly instead. It's all down to personal taste.

Late entrant to this - my redcurrant jelly is bubbling away on the stove.

I sieve my blackcurrant jam, so it's half-way between a jam and a jelly. Mum has the monster fruit bushes, so she gets to dictate how the 'jam' is made...! You get more than you would for a jelly, but without the skins and other bits in the jam, which also means you don't have to top and tail rigoroushllly.

Edit: 3 glasses of prosecco. Spelling less than good!

Hi, Just started third glass of Merlot, I made redcurrant jam, during the cooking phase I used a potato masher and mashed it all together.  Its worked and we all like it. I can see the massive amount of seeds in it but we like those.
