Picking all my gooseberries blackcurrants and redcurrants otherwise I don't think I will have any fruit left by the end of the weekend :(

Probably a good move, it looks as if it is going to be pretty wild over the next few days.
I hope here in the SE corner we do get at least some of the rain, cos we've missed out on it all, so far :( The soil on the plot is like dust on the top and concrete underneath.

The Lafuma chair that I use for 'contemplating' the plot is now firmly secured with industrial size tent pegs >:(

The winds and heavy rain brought most of my runner beans down. Very heavy trying to get them upright again ended up having to put new supports in place and cut back all of the extra growth at the top.

Hopefully things are going to improve next week

Seems that we are not the only ones suffering. The BBC is reporting a shortage of cauliflowers (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-49330210).
We don't rely on our crops for our living do we?

It is very strange. This is one of the few years when my cauliflowers have been tremendous. Several in the freezer. Feeling slightly smug. Is that allowed?

We've ( the Island) has suddenly decided to join in with the 'worse weather' , my sweetcorn which we were growing for the first time this year are now horizontal, the bean tripod has been knocked over and the fish pond has over flowed! My grandchildren are over this week and we were going to the Garlic Festival but on our way to work this morning we passed the site and I don't think so. Also we noticed the sweet corn growing at Merstone as all disappeared(cleared) as if they knew what was coming. Luckily, we are at the top of a hill.
