Title: Mange-tout peas
Post by: keeper on July 20, 2014, 19:35
I read somewhere , or was told , I forget I am at that time of life!. If I cut my mange-tout peas down, which I have been eating and freezing, they will sprout and carry on producing better than if left. This is rather than planting anymore as it is getting a little late?

I would be interested to know if anyone has tried this , and if so what were the results.

Thanks Trevor

I am trying to remember where I have seen or heard this, I thought it seemed odd otherwise I am sure everybody would do it. I am just being lazy really as the supports I put in are not really adequate and they are, when wet, slowly collapsing but still producing really well.

It is the first time I have grown Mange-tout and did not realise how tall they grew compared to my main-crop peas or is that just this year? I will support as for runner beans, on canes, next year, as they are marvellous eating and easy to freeze, thanks for the reply Mum.
