How long do pea plants crop for ?

Do they crop all season or do they crop for a short period.

Also, my melons are growing "ooh matron" do i have to fertilise them by hand.

I'm not an expert on peas stompy, but I'm growing Alderman which they say has an extended growing period.  Thinking of sowing a few more actually, as they reckon you can sow them up to July.  Not sure where to put them htough, run out of canes now as they are 5 footers and mustn't spend any more money on canes!!!!

You say your melons are growing, do you mean the plants?  Are the fruits all male at the moment?  Mine are, so I'm not sure what to do, how do you know which ones to fertilize if you do it yourself if they all look the same?

Come on, whose the melon expert???? I cn't remember, must go look at the earlier posts

= who's the melon expert????

Look at the post from Phoenix of 15 April. Very comprehensive!
Her one remaining melon is going great guns! Its nearly melon sized now. Will it last a few more weeks for the show, or should she just eat it!? I suppose if it smells melonish, then eat it?
Keep the plot cultivated, that's the best way to ensure its future.

I bet you could sow some more and still get a crop. My peas are good even if I do say so myself. If I was staying here I'd have some more on the go.
first there is a mountain then there is no mountain then there is

OK, laugh at me if you will, but I really don't know the answer to this; I've got a few short pea pods which have fattened up, but obviously only have four or five peas in them, and some about twice the length which haven't fattened up yet. So, when pea pods get fatter, will they get any longer, or do they stay the same length? Basically, should I pick the short fat ones or will they get longer if I leave them?  :?

Pick them otherwise they'll turn to seeds and taste like shop bought ones. I have different sized pods too but I didn't really think about it.

Edit: When the pod goes a bit yellowish and crinkley then they are turning into seed.

Yeah I've got short fat ones too, as well as long ones, even though Alderman are supposed to have 11 peas per pod!!!!!

Eat em quickly Mick, while they are nice and tender!!!
