It doesn't seem to be tasty to slugs either!

One way or another it has its advantages.  ;)

Chard- The ideal veg.  Lasts all year, you can eat nearly all of it, not fussy and not worried by the normal legion of garden hazards.  Freezes well if treated like spinach.

Only one problem you need to give the kids a break from it for a while, otherwise they will revolt

Don't over do it though as it may contain oxalic acid which reduces the body's ability to absorb some minerals such as calcium:

"RawforLife" link

"Oxalic acid has been shown to bind with calcium (and magnesium, iron, sodium and potassium) in the intestine, thus interfering with the absorption of these. And it's also been linked with the formation of kidney stones."

Swiss chard is lovely with smoked haddock and poached egg as well as in lasagne....but not too often.  ;)

Good advice Learner.  Thanks.  I'll keep it down to three times a day :D
