Growster Moon...
« on: May 09, 2020, 05:26 »
This week has been a delight, with the 'Flower Moon', so-called simply because it seems larger than usual at the moment, and occurs when flowers are blooming etc.

I often take a peek outside during the night, (during 'mercy visits'), just to see the different shadows and images behind 'The Turrets', especially in a thunderstorm, and of course when there's bright moonlight!

And a 'Growster Moon', you ask?

It occurs when you know from chums here, that temperatures are going down, well below zero, and the quick peek out of the window reveals that all the tender plants are fleeced and safely tucked up, but, the roof vents of the greenhouse are still wide open, and so is the door...

I had a list of things I wanted to plant out this weekend, beetroot, carrots etc., but I've screwed that u p and thrown it away, they can wait another week.   I keep meaning to go out and look at the moon but other things get in the way and I forget.  :D

The moon does leave beautiful shadows.  It reminds me of a poem by Walter de la Mare.  :)  Mrs Bouquet

MB. I'm a great lover of Walter de La Mare and think this is the one you were trying to remember:
https://allpoetry.com/The-Song-Of-Shadows.

Growster. From your title I thought you were mooning by doing a streak in your back garden and baring your bum to the starlight sky. Mea Culpa for that and I know how you feel when the moonlight sneaks through your bedroom curtains when you just can resist having one more howl. I used to be a werewolf but I'm all right nooooowwwwwww!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

That Walter De La Mare poem is just enchanting, isn't it!

"Frost on the windless casement weaves
A labyrinth of flowers;"

Just beautiful!

Much better than me charging round the garden, dressing-gown akimbo, with a torch and dew on my slippers...
