Does this seem a bit extortionate?
« on: September 15, 2009, 10:28 »
I'm planning to build my own chicken coop and I've just been quoted 462euros for 8.4sq m of exterior grade 3plywood

It seems so out of kilter as the 44x27mm battens are only 3.90 each and the onduline (2sq m) is only 8.90...

Here's me thinking that it would be a cheaper option to build my own!!!

That's far too much, Casey.  "Exterieur" grade plywood is sufficient, you've probably got the price for "Nautique".
Should be about 22 - 23 euros/m2 for 10 mm  (price Leroy Somer, who aren't known for being cheap ! )
I've usually got best prices from "Pinault Bois", but they may have changed their name now.
Good luck

I'm going to get a second quote from Point.P tonight.  Hopefully they can help me out at a more reasonable rate.  I'll explain I want to build a poulailler and not a bateau lol.

If you haven't found what you want, there's a "Reseau Pro" (ex Pinault Bois) at Neufchateau (88), who should do 10mm contreplaque , "Epicea".
Good luck

Do you not have Le B et Q over there ?  :D

You should be able to get the materials for less than about £100 equivalent. £150 tops.

If you send me 450 euros I'll build i nd deliver it

Non, we do not ave ze bay ann cur over ear.

Stuff is far more expensive over here, though. Garden centers especially are a right rip-off.

CASEY: TAKE HIM UP ON HIS OFFER, but knock him down to 380 euros, cash on delivery and "sous la table".  Throw in a bottle of red, if you have to.

I'm afraid I don't know much about wine, but I could throw in free beers on my 35m² sun terrace ;)
