sunbed propagator
« on: January 23, 2013, 00:04 »
Sorry if this a daft question, can a sunbed be refitted with grow lights and used as a propagator? Aside from the bulb cost what problems could arise if any?

Thanks

Assuming a full body length two sided machine (but I know nothing about these), the main problem I can think of is that you might gain too much light or warmth from that sort of bulb surface area. Would it run with only some of the bulbs in place?

I would not have thought it to be cost effective, and don't know if they would be safe to use

  for prolonged periods of time.

Also if it was a two sided machine .the danger of watering seedlings, unless you can open it

   up (shorting ,electrocution ).

I would stick to purpose made propogators
