My little hen house has holes drilled about 1.5 inches wide along the top, my husband put them there when we built their house.  But I'm wondering if we should cover them as I'm worried about the draft that might get in on them.  How much ventilation do they need . The house is about  3 and a half feet square on legs.

They do need good ventilation, draughts are a no no, but the cold doesn't seem to bother them much.

Yeah, don't block the ventilation they do have shazzer, although drafts can kill them as munty will tell you too, they need ventilation.  I know we've got a lot of chicks, but in a 34ft long house, they have only 1 red lightbulb, not even infra red anymore, and vents at either end and in the middle, but it is still very warm in there, and when it gets cold outside, there is even condensation inside from their warm little bodies.

Like Richy says, they are fine with the cold, they cuddle up close to each other and keep warm, and they've got all those feathers too!!!!

is anyone else starting to feel sorry for shazza, after asking a nice genuine question - all she gets is a chicken pvc catsuit, a poncho knitting pattern and socks.

and grannie was worried in case any weirdos found this site
