« on: June 16, 2010, 12:45 »
you may ask what has this to do with chickens well it would enable me to have chickens!! had them when I was younger and have longed for them ever since but are there any restrictions on keeping chickens?? its a large terraced house on a large ex council estate but in a rural setting with a 100ft back garden I would probably have 4-6 any advice much appreciated!! (so nervous and excited at the same time have lived in this present house for 20 years !!)
some people are like slinkys......they're really good for nothing, but they still bring a smile to your face as you push them down the stairs!!

it depends if you are renting or buying. If buying I think generally you are fine just as you don't get a cockerel and keep on top of the hygiene side of things  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

Hi

It's worth checking the deeds of the house you are buying as some contain prohibitions on keeping chickens  :(

Good luck!

Chances are you are alright - but if the house is leasehold there might be a restriction (there was on our last house - the lease was a pittance for the residue of 999 years, but it was a way of controlling the development of the little estate by the original landowner) or even a restrictive covenant.  Just tell your solicitor to keep an eye out for anything that might be a chicken related problem - otherwise it might not occur to him to mention it!
