Title: This year's clothes - yuk!
Post by: Goosegirl on August 25, 2019, 11:56
I don't know what you think but this year's clothes are so dreary and dull. I had a saunter round town yesterday and there was absolutely nothing that even made me look twice. A certain well-known store had more trousers, jeans and leggings than clothes, and what there were of those were either plain t-shirts or made of material that felt cheap and nasty.

It might be because we are still between seasons,  not quite ready for winter warmth but still needing summer weight clothes.  They won't want to spend too much at the moment  while we're in this interim period.  Give it another month and the 'better' stuff will come in.  I haven't been shopping yet either and am making do with what I've got.

Why not use last years clothes?

Perhaps Gg has been wearing them last year and the year before and the year before that.   Maybe she has lost weight and needs different sizes.   Maybe they are past their sell-by date and she is just sick to death with them.    Good though for bonfire night, and a scarecrow     Mrs Bouquet

All I wanted was a cotton dress that would be cool enough for the odd really hot day.  The choice seems to be between wearing something that is too short, and let's face it, my legs and particularly my knees are NOT my best point, as is the case for many women over the age of 40, or something that is down to the ground. Now maxi dresses look great if you're under 30 and built like a lath, neither of which applies to me.
Where have all the basic, casual clothes gone for those of us who don't want to look like our grandmothers, but also don't want to look like mutton dressed as lamb.  Dare I even mention the awful garish patterns and colours that seem to be prevalent this season.
I have bought two t-shirts and given up.

It is not easy, is it ?   I bought a pair of denim shorts for my hols,(just an inch or two above the knee), didn't wear them whilst away.  But I wore them today to visit an NGS open garden.     Mrs B

Why not use last years clothes?
As MB says, apart from some special ones I got for my significant birthday last year and our cruise this year, some of my clothes are over 20 years old, and I have a long party dress where the label is written in Latin!  No, it was more of an observation than me wanting to buy something new.

Probably a good thing you didn't want to buy anything if you didn't like what you saw.  :D
