First ever show entries for me at my local Horticultural Show - tomato, cherry tomato and heaviest tomato. Some cracking veg, flowers, baking and kids' stuff on display. Delighted to have placed 1st in the heaviest tomato category. Fully intend entering a few more classes next year.

Hopefully not too hard! Mrs Dog enjoyed herself having a good look round and also fancies entering a few classes next year - let battle commence :D

Yes a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It was fascinating just to watch some of the 'old pros' setting up their produce, particularly the chrysanths and dahlias.

I was fortunate to go round with the vegetable judge at our show, as a steward( plus being chairwoman of our club helped , it was our 73rd show!) it was a very interesting experience. Afterwards when we were having tea, another person came up & introduced me to someone & said “... grows veg on her allotment” the judge then asked if I’d entered anything to which I replied “oh yes” he laughed & asked if “he’d awarded me anything?” I said “yes, a first,2nd & a 3rd!” . He said I’d not given any clues as we went round.

Excellent results! I can only imagine how fascinating your experience was. I watched a YouTube video a while back shadowing a judge at a village show which was interesting enough. Hopefully next year's show won't clash with something else I often do in September as it has the last couple of years and I can donate more entry fees, raffle ticket money and refreshment costs to a worthwhile cause!
