Brahma collection tomorrow
« on: June 10, 2014, 09:38 »
Bonjour Everyone,
Not been on for awhile but very excited today as we are preparing to collect two beautiful Brahma Partridge hens tomorrow.
We have three Sussex who are well and truly settled but I always wanted a Brahma and now I am having two.
Photos to follow.
They are three months old and we will keep them separate from the Sussex for quite awhile but they will be able to view each other. Any tips or advice welcomed:)

Thanks for your comment.
Well, we collected this afternoon and they are superb. It was just over  three hour journey and it was 31° so we had the ac on full blast. I had them in a cat box on the back seat. They snuggled up together and watched the traffic going by.   Our Sussex didn't seem to bother with them at first when we put them in the run next to them but at feeding time they did notice some left over carrot in the brahma pen which they tried to get and then they noticed them.  Seemed like a polite conversation between them all and then back to wandering around minding their own business;
All tucked up in bed now. Forgot to take pics so will do that tomorrow.

Here are the first pics.  Born 9th March
In the third pic one of our sussex is viewing the situ.

Just named our new girls.
Rosie  and Daisy May. They are not identical so I can tell them apart unlike our sussex which I have had to ring.
They seem to be doing well and I am so thrilled with them. They really do look like they have PJ's on. :lol:

Have you got/had some brahma's?

I live in Southern France and the weather is in the 30's already. I am a little worried that they are finding it hot but they actually seem very calm and sit in the shade preening. The Sussex seem to be more agitated. One pants a lot but they too sit in the shade all afternoon an go in the dust bath which is also in the shade.
I have some tonic on order to put in their drinking water.
Is there anything else I should be doing?
