hi can anyone tell me a good gound cover plant, for semi shade, and preferably long flowering period.

Periwinkle? The variegated one is pretty even once the flowers stop. Hypericum is useful too if it doesn't get too affected by blight.

Word of caution on periwinkle as it can quickly get out of hand and take over.
Almost no perennial groundcovers will fllower long term, even shade tolerant ones, so you'll have to settle for seasonal flowering. I have good luck with all the creeping phloxes, arabis, thymes, and last year planted epemediums.

the hardy geraniums are good and flower for a good while.....give them a bit of a haircut and then they flower again :)
Some varieties are much taller than others, so just be aware of what variety you are buying ;)

Pachysandra, Rock Phlox, Aubretia, Alyssum or Hypericum calycinum. :D

I've got drifts of this growing under trees , cant remember its name but someone will know.  It makes really good ground cover :)

Nasturtium will do OK in partial shade, but will flower more profusely in full sun.

Also got some of that :lol: I know, just showing off now :blush: :lol: :lol:

The pulmonaria at the front  also makes good and pretty ground cover.

I should know I had loads of that when I first moved here :(

I think it's symphytum grandiflorum...same family as comfrey :)
