Wildlife on the dill

Dont know what this, but he's very handsome

quite a size, too.
Strange to see such a big bloke nibbling on such feathery leaves: must be a gourmet caterpillar

Any ideas Re identification?

or could be a black swallowtail.

Yes, one of the pictures looks like the beast. This one has no tufts on it, just sort of raised orange patches. It would be great if its that.

It surprised me that the birds hadn't picked him off: camouflage isn't his strong point

I wish i had some dill for the wildlife

went out this morning and something had sheared it all off at ground level...............all of it

Don't mind sharing to some extent but they (whoever 'they' are!) could have left me some to make my dill pickles with
