Squash seed
« on: October 21, 2010, 19:51 »

After a spot of advise on whether its worth saving the seeds of a Turks turban winter squash....we used one of the ones we grew on the lottie tonight in a curry...(pretty good as it happens). Is it worth saving the seed for another crop of TT's next year,? or will they not be true to type as there were lots of other types of winter squash grown on the site so they could have cross pollinated with anything!!

Chances are they may well cross-pollinate, depends how adventurous you are & whether you definitely want a TT again next year!  :)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I think lots of people would have bought seeds for your marrokin at £1 a seed irrespective of whether they were good to eat or not.
Could have been a novelty veg millionaire. :)

Does this mean I have to take/post a photo now?

Think I'll leave them...only got room for a few squash plants so if they turn out some wierd alien fruits :tongue2:....whole season up the spout .......Still some seeds in the packet from this season so a couple of TT's and BNS's will do me next year. :)

You have more seed that a marrokin grew from ? The seed IN the marrokin may not grow true. :)

It grew from a plant I gave away. I never got hold of the seeds.
