Celery
« on: May 19, 2012, 14:56 »
I'm going to be planting my plants soon under pop bottle cloches, just got some blood fish and bone today, should I spread some before planting them?
All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

I plant mine in a bed which has had muck roughly forked into it.  They like a rich, moisture-retentive soil

I think that's far better than a top dressing. Moisture is all-important with celery.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I've hedged my bets and done both - just planted them out on the plot today, and am keeping my fingers crossed that the weather warms up as promised. I've covered them with fleece just in case - hope they don't freeze!
