Onion sets

Onion sets Will it be okay to put onion sets in an area I had them last year as the other place I want to put them in the ground is saturated thanks Also I’ve lost Half of my garlic I put in last year due to rain

Personally I would'nt.

White rot is a nightmare that sits in the ground for up to 7 years and will wipe out your crop if there.

Just my thought.

It is always best to rotate your crops if you can, but it is not something to beat yourself up about if it cannot be managed for any reason.  Unless you have white rot or other onion disease on your plot, then I think one year isn't too much to worry about, but try and plan for a different onion plot next year.

My old plot was really heavy clay and my garlic used to struggle in wet winters. I now always start mine in pots outside and transfer them into the soil in February/ March.

We have huge rainfall & have got used to waiting until the soil is ready. My garlic is in cell trays & the onion sets are on a cool window sill. If you keep yours somewhere light & cool they'll wait.
