Snap pea spacings
« on: May 04, 2014, 13:27 »
I made a drill and sprinkled rather then spaced my snap pea seeds in it, then covered it as usual. It was a new packet of seeds but we have meeces here so I thought I might lose some to them; however, they all appear to have come up. Should I leave them or pinch some out?
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Mine are planted out in clumps from modules, and they do just fine. If they really are like mustard and cress it might be worth thinning them a bit, but as long as they have a couple of inches between them I'd let them be myself

Last look I had before I came in today they are about 1/2" apart, so a little judicious thinning might be best. Can I replant the thinnings?

I would leave them as they are and just keep them well watered each time with nettle and comfrey teas.

My sugar snap instructions say space 2cms apart, so yours sound fine.

Good-oh! There are a few that are really clumped closer than that, so I'll just nip those out and leave the rest.
