What wormer do the experienced recommend
« on: May 15, 2010, 17:16 »
Hi Folks, Finally got my chooks and what a pleasure they are. They are a joy to watch and also (fingers crossed) easy to please and look after.
I have followed the guidance on here, with regards to poo picking twice a day and am currently doing a total clean once a week scrubbing the coop with Jeyes fluid and renewing the bedding.
So thanks to all you guys who have postedin all the newbie threads, without your wisdom I do not think I would have got the girls nor would i have found it just as easy.
Anyway enough waffling on, the question I would like to ask is what wormer is most effective? My girls are layers (well will be when ready) and I dont want egg withdrawal. I have had them 4 weeks now the ladies that sold them said they had been wormed and to do again in 4 weeks as they would be on new ground with parasites.they recommended Fluvent!

Yes, def Flubenvet.  I tried Vermex the first couple of months, but it was ineffective.  Started using Flubenvet 18 months ago and it has kept them clear since.

Flubenvet for me too.
Be like a duck. Calm on the surface but always paddling like the dickens underneath.
