They are impressive animals. Makes you wonder what sort of predators they had to face in the past.

Quote from: "http://wonderclub.com/Wildlife/mammals/armadillo.html"

DID YOU KNOW?
  • The nine-banded armadillo is the only armadillo species that can swim. It does this by inflating its stomach and intestines with air to keep it buoyant. It can also cross a small river or stream by walking on the bottom while holding its breath.
  • Using its long, sticky tongue, the armadillo can eat more than 40,000 ants at one feeding.
  • Armadillos sometimes fall asleep on their backs, away from the safety of their burrows. When they do, they expose their vulnerable underside to attack from predators.
  • The name armadillo comes from the Spanish word armado, which means "one that is armed."
  • When digging for prey, the armadillo avoids getting dust up its nose by holding its breath for up to 6 minutes.

Bet they taste like chicken.

Although you'd expend more energy getting into them than you'd gain from eating them.  :?

Nah, just flip them upside down and show them a Billy Connelly video until they split their sides ... and bob's yer uncle ... unless fanny's yer aunt ... in which case I have bad news for you ... she lied about yer dad :|

... but they do taste like chicken ;)

Right....I had such a difficult job choosing my entry to the comp, I have so many favourite pics of my kitty, so here's a few more (and believe me...I spent long enough just trying to choose these 'few' - there are far more I could post as well!)

Aaah, snoozy kitten!:

Eh? What's that over there?:

Mmm...Mum's lap again!:

And again...:

And again!:

Give...Me....The....Ribbon!:

Oh, you guys!:

Hiyaaaa!:

Stay away from my bag, or I'll...:

..Come and get ya - oops!:

I love my dad too!:

I hope the pics don't come out huge - I chose the 640x480 size which I think was the suggested size...
Sal

Organic...so far!

Had to include this. Apologies to DD, there are chickens involved.

Evie has found a new place to reflect on the nature of predator versus prey....she finds she can get a better perspective on things.

...and if you try and move me I'll take your scalp off.

Sal - I'm afraid those pictures are too big and I'll have to come round and confiscate your cat. I'm sure he'll be happy in Cheshire :)

What a lovely mog.
