Dont know if this helps, but I have got a sort of apple-crate, which stand on its side, so it is tall, and the front is open, hang a bit of cloth (or an empty feed bag) to half cover it. I have put straw in, and if you snuggle the broody in there, still in the run, the girls can go back into the favourite laying nestbox. It keeps everyone happy.

I have about 3 of these boxes, and have 1 of them in a pen as a laing nestbox, cos one silly girl wont go in if anyone (her fellow choox) can see her  .  These boxes are then totally mobile, so moving them around a bit at a time can train a young hen if they are laying 'out' etc.
