Title: fig tree advice

ive just taken a cutting from my dads fig tree,can anyone put me straight on how to start it on the way to being a tree for me please.

This is the method i use with autumn cuttings.
Ideally you use year old wood not new growth but it will still strike . Cut a 4" length just above a bud and push it into a pot of damp soil leaving the bud 1/2" clear of the surface.
Make sure to plant top end up  :)
Put the pot where it will not dry out in the sun.
I never use the tip of the branch but it may still work.

Ps it does no harm to dip the bottom end of the cutting in hormone rooting powder if you have some , it will still grow if you don`t. :)
