Hi all, some of my potato plants which emerged about 2 weeks ago have yellow tips on the leaves. Would this be frost damage or some sort of mineral deficiency? Based south coast on clay soil.

If the growth behind the yellowing tips looks strong, green and healthy, it's probably a touch of frost damage (an air temperature of 4C or less can result in a ground frost on still nights in low-lying areas.)

Clay soils tend to hold nutrients in more than sandy ones and nutrient deficiencies usually show up later on, so think the frost had a little nip at them.

Thanks, yes the leaves are otherwise healthy looking apart from the odd yellow tip, so it probably is a bit of frost. And theres me shaking my head at my neighbour covering his spuds up with fleece... should listen to him really!
