Anyone used recycled plastic fencing?
« on: October 13, 2013, 13:53 »
just looking into materials for constructing a metre-high division between us and our neighbours - we have a block-paved drive in front of our garages, and they keep on letting their kids cycle on our drive and scratching our cars. No polite friendly discussions seem to solve it.
SO, having checked with our planning dept, we can put a maximum 1 metre high divide between us. As the neighbours are highly unlikely to allow us on their side to maintain a wooden fence in the future, I was looking at some of those recycled plastic jobs that look just like wood - very eco-friendly and tough. I am sure the neighbours will deliberately bash into it, so it will need to be tough
we did consider posts and chain link, to make the division, but to allow easier car-door opening - but I imagine the adults will step over it, and the kids duck under!

So, any views? ta muchly
small, Welsh and almost certainly bonkers, but can be tamed with Talisker, if required

It's sturdy and rot proof. How will you secure it to the block paving?

Also does the rule about fencing belonging the house on whichever side apply?

the planning office did not mention about which side the fence belongs to. As our drives are not split 50:50 - I would say it is about 55:45 in our favour, we plan to put the fence slightly within our boundary, so there can be absolutely no arguments on that score. We are planning to pull up a couple of lines of block paving to bury the posts in. We know a very handy chap who did some groundwork in the back garden this summer, so he will sort that for us.

thanks for your reply.

ALED - what a great idea, OH helps with sorting swims out at his fishing club - might suggest that to him! Excellent!

When I worked at a school we bought benches made of recycled plastic and they were excellent: realy robust and did not fade in the sun
