Paint marks on recycled wood
« on: March 03, 2013, 10:47 »
just finishing of a closed board fence made from old pallets and crates cut down to size.
Some pieces have markings and IDs painted and inked on them and was wondering how I can remove or fade these prior to using the fence paint spayer ?
I have tried a small patch with a brush and after 2 coats the paints/inks are still visible.
Would it be a case of a heavy sanding session or maybe some other  treatment ?
Thanks in advance

Have you thought of trying to sand them off with some sandpaper? That might work

Yes, probably sanding in your case. If it was an item of value, dipping might be an option if it would even remove that kind of paint, but probably not worth it for old pallets. :)
