Mushrooms/coffee grounds?
« on: February 28, 2015, 10:48 »
One thing I've loads off is spent coffee grounds and I learned yesterday that they are in fact so rich in nutrients that you can grow various kinds of mushrooms in it. I had a look on You Tube to see several ways of doing this. Anyone had a go? I'm definitely going to give it a shot this year...Danes throw away kilos of grounds every week...free compost!

I don't use these but I believe that they are an excellent repellent to slugs and snails. They do compost very well and are acidic, so could be used in potato trenches (they prefer an acidic soil which prevents scabbing)
I don't quite understand how spent coffee grounds have any nutrients, when spent tea bags don't.
