are these a 1 year plant or the same as normal gooseberry bush   every year

I think most would grow them as annuals but I've managed to overwinter a couple of plants in my unheated GH so I won't need to replant this year.One of the two provided me with tonnes of fruit - I really should have weighed it.

They seem to do best with 'some' protection in the UK - I think they might be classed as perrenial in South America...
My best plant grew like a triffid in the GH - was just in a Morrison's flower bucket. This year I'll see if I can bring it on to a fair size then move it out - it out competed my tomatos in the GH.

I grew them a couple of years ago. I grew the seeds at the same time as the tomato plants. I think they are a  similar family. They did quite well. I had loads of plants but not enough space.

I got a lot of fruit from the plants.
I have started some seeds this year as we have an extra half plot.
