Cleaning the bed today 2nd January 2022 and found three new spears just emerging. Ate them for lunch. A bit tough but definitely new growth. Have been growing it for 20 years. Previous earliest first week in April. No fleece or covering.. Global Warming?

Must check my asparagus.
Probably those spears will get a surprise soon I’m afraid looking at forecasts.
It does sound pretty much like global warming. A warmer climate might be nice but the general problems around the world this year suggest it’s definitely not such a good idea.
