i found 2 eggs today from landlords chooks in the greenhouse so as he is not here i have taken them

i put a light on them and i think the are fertile but i have no way to hatch them dont have the inncy yet

Depending on whether you are male or female, but I well remember a lady coming onto one of the morning TV programmes and she'd quite literally walked around for 21 days with an egg stuffed down her bra. :shock:

Thank God that chicks don't breast feed.

PS. That black ring is the air sack at the top of the egg and it's not an indication as to whether or not its fertile.

oh my book says thats a sign that it is :shock: i just checked some eggs we have from the supermarket and they dont have the ring

Its not every egg that shows that ring even when its about to hatch. I wish it was that easy though.

If you candle eggs, you can actually see a developing chick inside the egg but thats by using a box and a strongish light shining through it. It really is not possible to pick up an egg and say whether or not its fertile.

the book is about breeding cage birds and there is a pic the same as i posted but of a finch

iv made a incubator out of a butter pot and a 60 watt light bulb

iv put the 2 eggs in and some water in a pot lol we will see what happens
