new veg patch.
« on: November 29, 2009, 20:44 »
New to all this veggie growing and gardening. Our garden is all grass, compacted and very wet. I'm looking forward to getting stuck in, very hard at the moment as so wet. I've sown onions and garlic in first bed, strawberries and rhubarb in second, rasberries in a long row third bed covered for potatoes. Plan on having another 3-4 beds. I will pave and fence off. What you think. It might be best to have raised beds as its very very wet ground. I am adding in 6month old horse manure as I go.
Not too sure what to do with the rest of the grass/garden. Only so much veg to eat/sow!
Will add several photos, if i can. Thank u.

Good going there :) I think the whole country is very wet at the moment ::)

I started with 3 beds in my garden and every year I seem to claim a bit more for veg.
It is surprising how much room everything takes. I bet you will get the growing bug and make a lot more beds...at least you have the room :)

Glad you cracked it with the piccies :nowink:

Hello Corco and welcome to the forum. :)
I would be careful planting potatoes in you first year, as you might get wire worm if the plot was previously turfed??
I may take my time.....but i'll get there in the end.

What a fabulous plot and an amazing view - lucky you! Whereabouts are you? (you could add it to your profile)
