Planting out Tomatoes
« on: May 10, 2013, 12:40 »
HI,

I have some Tomatoes (sungold, gardeners delight, ped pear, tumbling toms and moneymaker) growing happily on the bedroom windowsill, they are in 3inch pots and are between 4 & 6 inches tall, they appear quite healthy but I am wondering if I should plant them on into the polytunnel.

I am away for a week the week after next and wondered if it was best to plant them out or leave them inside until I get back.

I'd leave them inside, until you're back.

Weather is pretty miserable for the next week, and very windy.

I suppose it depends how big and strong your poly tunnel is, but night temps are dropping to 4-5 degrees in the coming days....

Might be worth poting them up into bigger pots though, as they may become a bit pot/root-bound?
When weeding, the best way to know if its a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull it.

If it comes out easy, it was a valuable plant !
