I too am going to try growing my pots, in bags.  I have a couple of the very large  strong white nylon type bags delivered with top soil in by local supplier.  What I want to know is whether it matters them being white or do I have to surround it with black plastic to keep the light out?  Same applies to old compost bags, but I have dog food bags which are white inside and bright blue on the outside.  In other words, does the colour really matter?

I tried growing in bags last year just to see what happened. Used the rublle sacks from B+Q.

One thing i learned was don't let them dry out. Check them regularly. They produced fine but could have been a little bigger.
It's a fine line between hobby and mental illness.

Welcome to the site lilou, you might want to pop across to the welcome section and say hi properly so you get more hello's!

As far as colours are concerned, the main thing is to block out light or you will end up with green spuds - can make you ill.  The actual colour is less important than whether light will actually penetrate through the lining of the bag.  Try holding it up to the light and seeing whether you can see the sun through it.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Yorkie1, thanks for the tip, i held the bag up to the light and I couldn't see the sun shining through, It was dark outside though, does that make a difference? :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
