Can anyone shed any light on what's wrong with my toms, about to plant them out at the plot but don't want to if they are doomed or a risk to other plants.

Looks like water splash so long as the top growth is healthy don't worry just pinch them off.

looks as if that tom should have been in a bigger pot quite some time ago
Pot it on(or plant it out) , and put it in deeper than it is at the moment, up to the first set of leaves. That should sort it out

Totally agree, they should be in large pots or in the ground.

Guilty as charged I'm afraid, unfortunately I didn't have the bed ready where I was planning on putting them, but after much digging last night I can certainly plant most of them now.  Plenty of TLC from now on I promise
