No, not certain small women I am fond of, but one of the delicate crops is doing this year what it did last year in the Mediterranean-like summer of bone dry sunny weather. This is what happens when we have a week of sunny and ridiculously hot weather, during what had already been a warm and sunny July, interspersed with rain every 3-4 days.

Now I just need to find some South Africans.

Thought you meant the lettuce not squash  Reminds me that I must buy some seed for next year - I've missed growing them the last 3! One of my next door neighbours is from SA and has fond memories of them as a child. She really appreciated a few  the last time I grew them.
