Post by: Caretaker on August 24, 2006, 19:47
I am going to try differant green manures this year, I tried mustard white last year and was pleased with it, this year i am growing some buckwheat, trefoil, phacelia tanacetefolia plus mustard.
Has anyone tried any of them and any tips, I will rotavate them in, in the spring if all go's well.

I've used field beans - not overly impressed and mustard after potatoes, which I think is great.
You can also use French beans (dwarf) as a green manure.

I grow phacelia - its lovely - quick to grow, lots of foliage and if you leave it to flower the bees will thank you!
