green manure

I have a bed that I'm going to grow sweetcorn and squash in. It is going to be empty for a while yet. Would it be worth sowing green manure there?

I guess you won't plant your Sweetcorn until end of May? so you may have 2 - 3 months

This timetable may help:

Phacelia is the best crop for this. Sow it im March once the soil starts to warm up. It is easy to dig in, or alternatively pull it up and compost it.

Leave a few bits to flower for the bees.

Thank you for the link. I have ordered the spring mix.

Looking at the Caliente Mustard with its Biofumigant properties I have discovered a potential problem. The bed that has still got sprouts in I have set aside in my plan as roots and onion bed. There was a ridge next to the sprouts and as I have been digging over I have found a whole row of unharvested and rotten potatoes. They are orange and slimey, squishy. Would using this green manure be a good idea to sort out any potential problems? If it was you would you still put carrots / onions in there?
