Hi all im back with more questions. I posted sometime ago about my chicks not going to bed. I have moved them to bigger coop and been locking them in coops run before dark and they go inside themselves but few times i left them and they still jump on top :-( they are 5 months old now been wormed etc eating good and drinking very healthy, have checked for mites and lice no sign at all.

They shake their head a bit seems like something is wrong, someone said they sometimes get lice in their ears so use diatom around/in ears but im not too sure.

I normally sprinkle water on their pellets and they love it. They get mixed corn now and then. And plenty of greens.

Any idea.

Hi not too sure about the shacking of the heads, but the flying on the coop rather than in it, when I have had younger hens about the same age as yours they always got on top of the coop, and when they see us coming they start making low growls, because they don't want to go in the coop.  However when they got a bit older they would go in the coop no problems. So hopefully yours will be the same :D

Did you check the underside of the perch and roof for red mite?
Sounds familiar to me ! >:(

Or maybe ventilation issues if the coop is too warm ?

Yup checked everywhere washed the coops with poultry shield few days ago. Before i always had diatom in the coops plenty of it. They did the same when they were abit younger and were in different coop. They were raised in a big container for about 2 months and they used to jump in there themselves at night lol looked so cute. I'll have to wait and see. :)

dust them for lice anyway or add powder to dust bath.
We put plastic and guttering on top of ours but 2 still manage it.
I have a choice of roosting bar heights in my coop which help.
