Simple newbie question really. Sweetcorn is a grass and grasses are not annuals right? So, can I leave my sweetcorn in over the winter to crop next year as well?

Short answer..... No!

they're not tollerant of the cold so would just whither and die back.

chop 'em up and put them on the compost heap when they're done and use the space for something else over winter.
