I planted out my sweetcorn last Sunday. They were about 8-9 inches high.
I watered them in but today the leaves are turning yellowish. any ideas what to do to make them recover.
thanks

May have been best to water them in when you planted them. Should be alright, they tend to stutter a bit at the beginning, but as the weather gets warmer they'll rocket!
-
THANKS DAVE BUT DURING THE WAM WETHER DO I CONTINUE WATERING.
-
Did you grow them in pots ? They don't like any root disturbance.
Were they well hardened off ? They are very sensitive to the cold.
-
YES THEY WERE IN POTS AND HARDENED OFF. I PUT ROOTBALL INTO GROUND WITHOUT DISTUBING THEM.

Sorry, the term 'watering in' is generally used for the first watering after planting. It seemed as though you'd left it 5 days!

Was the compost in the post nice and damp before planting :?:
Storeman. I'd be very grateful if you'd use lowercase for your posts. Capitals feels like shouting :(

Yea they will recover, mine do it every year, it seems to take them a week or so then once happy they will go all green and shoot up. I am planting the last of mine at the weekend so I will take a photo as they gone in, then a few days later then I will take one so as they go green again, I only water them in once and leave them.

Thanks for this thread....i planted my sweetcorn couple of week ago and wasn't sure how long they took to get going....seems they are ok and will stop sulking shortly. :D

Any particular tips on the sweetcorn - I planted about ten seeds, nine of which germinated and made it through into the raised beds.
They're about ten inches high now and looking pretty healthy.
Any special treatment??

The only thing I ever do is water in very dry water & pray the squirrels don't notice the cobs.

We had rats decimate our cobs one year. Caught them in the act and got the rat catchers in.
